Congratulations to Ben Speake on his first century for Ormond CC, unbeaten on 137 before rain interrupted play.

Our first eleven continue on next week for 9 overs after finishing 3/252 on day 1.

Ormond Cricket Club crashed the party as the First XI were outplayed in game one of the season. Although, Liam Murphy still provided plenty of highlights with some lofty blows in his knock of 70.

It is with immense sadness that I write to inform you all of the passing of Steve Ambler today, after suffering a heart attack late last week. Steve collapsed while running on Thursday, January 24 and died at Monash Hospital four days later.   

OCC Juniors Selected in Australian U17 Squad

The Club is proud of our Junior Development Program which has seen 7 boys move to Premier Cricket in the last 2 seasons.  In the recent Under 17 National Championships 3 Ormond Boys represented Victoria, Miles Sellenger (Captain) Bailey Moon and Zac Sleeman.  All three have been involved in our Back to Back Craig Shield Titles as well partaking in our Winter Programme

Barry & Wild smash 7th wicket record partnership

On Saturday at EE Gunn Reserve, Ormond’s Brendan Barry and James Wild set a new 7th wicket partnership of 183*, breaking the previous 7th wicket record partnership of 177 set by Adam Dale & Greg Hobba (Bundoora Old Paradians now Plenty Valley) made in season 2007/2008.

Ormond chasing Oakleigh’s imposing total of 299 were in trouble at 6/119 before Wild & Barry came together and guided their side to a brilliant victory finishing the day at 6/302.

At stumps James Wild remained 135 no (16 x 4’s & 2 x 6’s) and Brendan Barry 87 no.
